Environmental policy

At Marhbabikoum, we recognize that our activities have an impact on the world around us.

However, we are committed to minimizing negative impacts on the environment through thoughtful and responsible management policies.

In line with this policy, we are engaged in a certification process, in partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Environment, to obtain the “Green Key” label, which rewards hotel establishments that respect water and energy resources and operate waste management adapted to local means. We obtained this label in 2012.

To achieve our goals, we are committed to :

  • Raise awareness among our employees, our customers, our suppliers, and the local community about environmental issues.
  • Define environmental objectives and targets and establish a monitoring process.
  • Continuously improve our environmental performance and reduce the environmental impact of our activities.

We are happy to share with our clients the measures we implement through this policy .

What we have already done :

  • Possess toilets equipped with dual-flush systems.
  • Regularly check that neither faucets nor showers are leaking.
  • Offer towel washing on demand.
  • Manufacture our own cleaning product traditionally (using vinegar, baking soda, and thyme essential oil).
  • Equip part of the establishment with low-consumption light bulbs.
  • Disconnect electric water heaters when rooms are unoccupied.
  • Renovate the house based on traditional raw earth construction methods (with the exception of the rooms added on the terrace), reducing the reliance on artificial air conditioning.
  • Install a tarp on the patio, thus limiting heat loss in winter.
  • Purchase bath linen made from certified organic cotton.
  • Implement daily monitoring of energy and water consumption.
  • Install aerators on faucets and showers where needed.
  • Identify all light bulbs that can be replaced with “low consumption” ones.
  • Implement a policy of purchasing eco-labeled cleaning products.
  • Produce our own fruits and vegetables through agro-ecology in the long run.
  • Offer baskets to customers and staff to avoid the proliferation of plastic bags.
  • Encourage our employees and customers to reuse, recycle, and reduce their waste.
  • Use recycled paper when possible.
  • Conduct a half-day awareness session for school children.
  • What you can do :
  • Limit your water and energy consumption by not requesting your towel to be washed every day.
  • Reduce your energy consumption by turning off electrical devices when you’re not present (lights, air conditioner, heater, etc.)
  • Choose our baskets made available to you over plastic bags, a significant issue in Morocco.
